Film Mulching with Low Phosphorus Application Improves Soil Organic Carbon and Its Decomposability in a Semiarid Agroecosystem

چکیده
Soil organic carbon (SOC) storage and decomposability are crucial for soil quality. Film mulching phosphorus (P) application important agricultural practices on the semiarid Loess Plateau. This study analyzed combined effects of film P SOC, its fractions, mineralization kinetics under alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.). The six-year field experiment incorporated randomized blocks split-plot design with two treatments (no flat planting ridges furrows) as main plots four levels (P0: 0 kg ha−1, P1: 9.73 P2: 19.3 P3: 28.9 ha−1) subplots. Mulching increased SOC content, fractions (light heavy fraction C, microbial biomass dissolved C), mineralization. After six years, content by 2.18, 2.60, 2.37, 0.17 g kg−1 at P0, P1, P2, P3, relative to no mulching. With increasing levels, but initially then decreased P1 displayed highest utilization efficiency stability. Kinetic models divided into an active a slow pool, latter showing lowest stability in Overall, low level, especially 11.9 ha−1 fertilizer, promoted Plateau due high C decomposability.

متن کاملImpacts of Cropping Systems on Aggregates Associated Organic Carbon and Nitrogen in a Semiarid Highland Agroecosystem
The effect of cropping system on the distribution of organic carbon (OC) and nitrogen (N) in soil aggregates has not been well addressed, which is important for understanding the sequestration of OC and N in agricultural soils. We analyzed the distribution of OC and N associated with soil aggregates in three unfertilized cropping systems in a 27-year field experiment: continuously cropped alfal...

The effects of geological conditionwere assessed on density of Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) and Nitrogen (N)in a sequence of hillslope landscape, derived from different lithology i.e. loess deposit, reworked loess, marl with mixed siltstone and shale, reddish brown clay deposits and older loess in the semiarid area of northern Iran. However, other factors can influence SOC and N density such as la...
متن کاملOrganic Phosphorus Source Effects on Calcareous Soil Phosphorus and Organic Carbon
The loading, solubility, mobility, and plant availability of P is a growing environmental concern to regulators and planners of nutrient management plans, confined animal feeding operations, and wastewater land application permit sites. Insufficient information is available on how P reacts from different organic sources when applied to calcareous soils. A field study was conducted to determine ...
متن کاملMicrobial Functional Diversity, Biomass and Activity as Affected by Soil Surface Mulching in a Semiarid Farmland
Mulching is widely used to increase crop yield in semiarid regions in northwestern China, but little is known about the effect of different mulching systems on the microbial properties of the soil, which play an important role in agroecosystemic functioning and nutrient cycling. Based on a 4-year spring maize (Zea mays L.) field experiment at Changwu Agricultural and Ecological Experimental Sta...
